Different types of keratoconus contact lenses – different types of hybrid or scleral lenses require the use of filler fluid (saline), to fill the space between the lens and the cornea. The quality of the filler fluid is critical as the fluid is in constant interaction with the cornea during use, and if applied well, without any holes or open edges, it does not deplete. Therefore, multi-purpose solutions should not be used to fill the fluid in the lenses as they contain disinfectants and preservatives. It is important to use high-quality fluid that does not contain preservatives.
