Scleral contact<\/a> lenses<\/a> are contact lenses whose grip is supported outside the corneal boundaries. These lenses have a larger diameter that does not come into contact with the cornea but rather sit on the white of the eye (sclera, hence the oil of the lenses). The patient fills the space between the cornea with fluid, before applying it to the eye.<\/p>\n

The lenses are suitable for the treatment of certain cases of keratoconus and, with their special structure, will correct corneal deformation.<\/p>\n

The most important physical dimension of the scleral contact lenses<\/a> is the diameter. The diameter of the scleral contact lens greatly influences its suitability to the eye.<\/p>\n
